Investigating - Description:
We’ve identified an issue where the Allergy Pill in the prescribing window is showing as blank, even when patient allergy information has been recorded in the system.
Potential Impact:
This issue may affect prescribing decisions, as accurate allergy information is critical for safe prescribing practices. If the Allergy Pill appears empty, there’s a chance providers might assume the patient has no allergies, which could lead to prescribing a medication the patient is allergic to.
However, please note that interactions and contraindications will still be displayed during the prescribing workflow if a provider attempts to prescribe a medication that could cause an adverse reaction.
Immediate Actions for Providers (Workaround):
While we work on resolving this issue, we recommend the following steps:
Click on the Allergy Pill in the prescribing window to manually view any recorded allergy information.
Be aware that drug interaction alerts from the MediSpan service will continue to trigger as usual, providing an added layer of safety during prescribing.
We encourage all providers to exercise extra caution when prescribing and ensure patient allergy information is manually verified until the issue is fully resolved.
